The goal of AVCC’s Tiny Grants program is to provide seed money and/or matching funds for specific projects in the broad categories of land conservation, education and outreach, stewardship and management, and planning.

Our 2025 Tiny Grants are made possible with generous support from The Nature Conservancy in Vermont, Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission and Vermont Natural Resources Council. We thank them for their contributions and commitment to local conservation in Vermont!
Grant Terms and Conditions
Eligibility for Funding: To be eligible for an AVCC Tiny Grant, groups must be:
Conservation commissions or local committees/groups that are working towards becoming a conservation commission in Vermont and paid members of AVCC
Other Stipulations: Groups must be a municipality or IRS certified 501(c)(3) public charity, or have fiscal sponsorship by a municipality or IRS certified 501(c)(3) public charity. Prior recipients of grants from AVCC must have completed those grants and closed them out. Grants cannot be used for general funds, dues or subscriptions.
Timetable: Applications must be submitted (or postmarked if sent by postal service) on or before April 18, 2025. Grantees will be notified of funding approval by May 9, 2025. A brief update and progress report should be delivered by December 19, 2025 for inclusion in AVCC’s 2025 Annual Report. A final budgetary and programmatic report should be submitted upon completion of the project and no later than May 1, 2026.

Evaluation Criteria for Grant Funding:

➡ Local support and volunteer involvement
➡ Evidence of matching funds and/or in-kind services
What to Include in Your Application:
➡ Contact name and email address
➡ Title of proposed project (e.g. “Landowner Outreach Campaign”)
➡ Brief description of the project
➡ Projected budget (including other sources of funding or in-kind contributions)
➡ Amount requested from AVCC (up to $700)
➡ How Tiny Grant funding will make a difference
➡ A plan for measuring impact and success

Payment Process: The funds awarded under this grant will be available approximately two weeks after the awards are announced. Checks will be made payable to the town or city unless instructed otherwise. Please make sure that the selectboard/city council and treasurer are aware and agree that any grant funds received will be spent at the discretion of the conservation commission and for the purposes outlined in the award letter.
Grant Closeout: Grantees will be required to submit a Conservation Success Story (via email or Google Form) presenting evidence of grant completion with photographs and text detailing outcomes and challenges.
Acknowledgement: If awarded, grantees should credit AVCC in any publicity.
